Sometimes people just collapse dead in their front yards.
Sometimes people just collapse dead in their front yards.

An American soldier was found dead in his front yard in Texas on Tuesday, following his return from Obama’s war against Ebola in West Africa.

It isn’t clear if it was Ebola, but it almost certainly wasn’t. However, just dropping dead in your front yard is a weird thing, and it could well be to some other type of strange Africa doom disease.

It’s a very weird story.

NY Daily News:

Initial tests showed the soldier did not have the virus, and a cause of death has not been announced.

Fort Hood officials confirmed the man found in Killeen, Tex., is a soldier who returned last week from a deployment in Liberia, KCEN TV reports. Officials said there were no initial indications the soldier had Ebola, but medical personnel still ran precautionary tests to make sure.

The initial test results released Tuesday afternoon said the soldier did not have Ebola, according to the Army Times. Results from a more comprehensive test are pending.

Police blocked off the area around the Cantabrian Drive apartment building where the soldier was found Tuesday morning, as a team in hazmat suits inspected the area. The apartment, where the soldier stayed during his off-post, is about three miles from Fort Hood.

A police spokesperson told KCEN TV there is no indication of foul play or suicide for the 24-year-old GI, whose name was not released.

The soldier was part of an 87-person group that returned last week from a mission to help contain the spread of Ebola in West Africa. The other troops are still in imposed medical isolation at Fort Hood, but this soldier was granted a brief leave to visit family members during an emergency, the San Antonio Express-News reports.

If he had just come home, they would have done all sorts of health checks on him before releasing him, so the only thing I can even think of here besides some disease which went undetected is a drug overdose.  Which is probably what it was.
