Top Gun Female Star Outraged She Isn’t Being Called in for the Sequel!

The old woman who used to be attractive is confused why no one wants to look at her now that she’s sixty.

Decider:

Don’t expect to see Tom Cruise’s original Top Gun love interest in the sequel. According to Kelly McGillis, who played Charlie in the 1986 action drama, she was not asked to participate in the upcoming sequel Top Gun: Maverick, despite many of her co-stars appearing in the film. McGillis told ET that she doesn’t plan on attending any events for Top Gun: Maverick for a variety of reasons, not least because she has yet to be asked: “It hasn’t happened,” she said, adding, “I don’t really keep in touch with anybody.”

In 1986, McGillis broke out in a major way when she played Top Gun‘s Charlotte “Charlie” Blackwood, an astrophysicist and Topgun instructor. Cruise’s Maverick quickly falls for Charlie, and the film ends (spoilers ahead for a 30-year-old movie, I guess) with them reuniting at a bar near the base. After Top Gun, McGillis went on to star in a series of high-profile projects, including Made in Heaven, The Accused, and The Babe.

When asked if she plans on attending any red carpets or promotional events for Joseph Kosinski’s Top Gun: Maverick, McGillis was clear. “I don’t know how to answer that because one, it hasn’t happened,” the 62-year-old actress told ET. “Two, if and when it did happen, I would have to assess where I am, what I’m doing, what’s going on … I can’t project what I would or wouldn’t do in the future. I have no idea because I don’t know where I’ll be.”

Yeah, I wonder why they didn’t invite the female lead from a thirty-year-old movie to star in the sequel?

What does she look like now?

Oh no wait sorry, I posted the wrong picture. That’s the king of Africa.

Here’s what Kelly McGillis looks like now.

Yikes.

Except, not so many yikes, because everyone knew a woman would look like that at sixty.

Meanwhile, Tom Cruise at sixty – being a man – is just as handsome as he was at 30.

This is the main difference between men and women: women stop being fertile in their mid-thirties, so there is no longer any reason for them to be sexually attractive, because there is nothing sexual about them at that point. Men, on the other hand, are fertile until they die (more or less), so they remain sexually appealing into middle age and beyond.

People should really tell women about this issue. They should tell them that when they’re young, so they don’t waste their youth. Then they should tell them that when they’re old, so they don’t go around acting like they should be starring in movies when they’re sixty and embarrassing themselves and everyone else.

It’s not really fair to anyone that women are not told this.

If they were told straight up, “these are the facts of life, ladies – as soon as you turn 19, you’re on a clock and every day you’re alive men will be less interested in you than the day before,” they might make better decisions.
