We’ve all come to simply expect this sort of thing, actually.
Two children are living in fear after being chased by a knife-wielding man dressed as a ‘killer clown’.
Mum Zoe Woodward, 25, says she caught a glimpse of the clown’s red wig after her two young boys ran in to the house “screaming in terror” on Sunday.
They told their mum they were chased by a “fully grown man” who “ran at them with a knife”.
Frankie, eight and Stephen, eight, were playing in the garden of a friend’s house in Mottingham, in south east London, when they were approached by the menacing figure.
Mum Zoe, from Mottingham, says Frankie, who has always been terrified of clowns, is now too scared to leave the house.
Zoe said: “My children are even more scared to go outside and my eight-year-old is too terrified to leave the house.
“My friend and her daughter walked us home and to be honest I’m scared as well.”
Zoe believes this is not the first time the clown has struck and is now warning other parents in the area that their family could be next.
Zoe added: “I’ve had to tell my sons that the police have put the clown in prison to make them feel better.”
A police spokesman said they were called to reports of a group of kids who had been threatened by a suspect with a knife.
He added: “No children were physically harmed during the incident which was reported to have happened between 6.30pm and 7pm.
“The suspect, whose gender is not known, was thought to be between 5ft 6in and 5ft 7in tall.
“They were reported to be wearing a clown mask and clown costume.
“At this stage this is being treated as an isolated incident.”
Except it’s not an isolated incident. It’s a part of an ongoing trend.
Dressing up as a killer clown and terrorizing children is now a meme and a hobby for many people in the US and Britain for reasons that we do not understand.
