Antonio Lavance Williams.
Anyone want to bet that the cop who accidentally shot him was black too?
An NYPD cop was fatally struck by gunfire from his fellow officers as he wrestled a suspected gang criminal who was armed, police chiefs confirmed.
Brian Mulkeen, 33, was shot and killed as he was apprehending Antonio Lavance Williams, 27, near the Edenwald Houses in the Bronx on Sunday at about 12.30 am.
The seven-year department veteran was shot three times in the head, chest and legs, and died later at hospital. Williams was shot dead by other officers at the scene.
Police Commissioner James O’Neill confirmed that Mulkeen, 33, was hit twice by police bullets during the confrontation early Sunday in the Bronx.
‘This is a tragic case of friendly fire,’ O’Neill said during a news conference at police headquarters on Monday afternoon.

More details emerged on Monday of William’s violent background, including at least three prior arrests across New York.
