Alex Berenson Reinstated on Twitter

Alex Berenson is one of the main popular critics of the coronavirus narrative. He is a former New York Times writer and novelist, who also wrote a book about the effects of chronic marijuana use on the psyche.

I had some disagreements with his takes on the macro-situation, but I think he is just too old and normie to have understood the implications of what he was himself saying. But overall, he was probably the most important person in getting real information about the alleged “pandemic virus” and the vaccine out into the wider public sphere.

He was permanently banned from Twitter last year for “science denial” or whatever, and it had the desired effect of removing most of the real information about the virus/vax from the public sphere.

For whatever reason, he’s now been reinstated on Twitter. He was suing them, but lots of people have tried to sue tech companies over bannings and it’s pretty well-established that the court system doesn’t believe you have a right to free speech if the public square is “privately owned.” Berenson’s lawsuit was much more interesting, however, as he was alleging that it was possible or probable that Twitter had banned him on orders from the Biden Administration.

Remember when Jen Psaki admitted that the Administration was telling social media companies who to ban?

That actually does seem to be illegal on its face, and if Berenson could get that to the Supreme Court, that would be interesting. Though there is virtually zero chance he would be able to get it to higher courts, or even get discovery to prove that he was banned on orders of the Bidens.

Whatever the case – they brought him back, which I’m not aware of having ever happened before. (There have been cases where someone gets banned and there is an outrage and the person is restored in a matter of days, but Berenson was gone for nearly an entire year.)

So, it’s possible that Twitter (or the Biden Administration itself) was concerned about the specifics of Berenson’s lawsuit. Of course, there is also a possibility that Elon Musk had something to do with it. Elon supports Berenson and freaked out when Amazon banned his book, which led to Bezos (apparently personally) unbanning it. Musk’s purchase of Twitter is far from complete, but as of right now, it does seem to be moving forward, and I don’t think it’s impossible that Musk would have asked them to restore Berenson as some kind of good-faith gesture.

Restoring Berenson right now is probably viewed as mostly harmless, since we are now out of the coronavirus hysteria for the time being. It would be interesting if Berenson started posting videos of Ukrainians torturing and murdering civilians and POWs, and see if he would get banned for questioning the new current thing. (I doubt he’s going to do that.)

In general, the censorship on Twitter has not really changed following the announcement of a plan for Musk to purchase the site and bring back free speech. Immediately after the deal was announced, it appeared that they were scaling back the super-aggressive censorship, but it’s still totally impossible for anyone pro-Russian to keep an account posting video of Ukrainian atrocities. You can usually find the videos on Twitter, because people keep making new accounts, but once they get to a certain number of followers they are banned.

Nick Fuentes has been making new sock accounts a couple times a week, and is now getting banned in under 24 hours, which means that someone at Twitter has been specifically tasked with finding his new accounts and banning them.

It is sure going to be wild if Elon pulls off his coup and gets us all back online.
