Mark Galli, the sloppy fat editor of Christianity Today who recently penned an op-ed saying that Donald Trump should be forced out of office by Christians, recently appeared on Face the Nation to discuss his views.
His views do not make any sense, and are not even clear. After watching him, just as after reading his article, I do not understand what it is he is trying to communicate.
He is basically just saying “Orange Man Bad.” He does not have any specific list of demands or complaints regarding why it is he has decided that Trump should be removed from office. He vaguely hints at something about the impeachment.
He also hesitates when asked if he believes that Christians should vote against Trump in 2020. He clearly does think that, but saying “yeah vote for the communist abortionists who are going to flood the country with even more Mexicans and confiscate everyone’s guns” is something he is too cowardly to say straight.
This whole situation has been a weird chapter in the Trump saga, because it is totally fake. There is no “backlash” against Trump by evangelicals. This is just a random guy, who no one had ever heard of, who decided to get famous by saying that Trump isn’t a good Christian and so Christians should rebel against him.
The media jumped all over it, as they do, but there is really nothing here, other than a whiny fat guy.
Christians maybe should be rebelling against Trump. Or at least demanding things of him. But they shouldn’t be doing it because he violated democracy by calling the president of the Ukraine. They should be doing it because he hasn’t kept any of his promises to them.
