I know I am:
I cannot wait for the civil war to kick off, and the only reason I don’t write about it more is because I know that the Zoomers who read this are already ready and willing and don’t need anymore convincing.
Especially after the call to arms that was Joker.
Furthermore, when the Civil War breaks out, literally every kid is going to want to go to school to get even. In fact, I expect the first shots of the Beta Uprising will be fired in school. We all know how it’s going to go down.
Gen Z is locked and loaded.
And the Boomers are as cranky and ornery as usual, but giving off clear signs that they are ready to start blasting from the hip at degenerates.
So really, we’re just waiting on Gen Xers and Millennials to snap out of their nihilistic stamp-collecting hobbies to join the fun.
Partisan political division and the resulting incivility has reached a low in America, with 67% believing that the nation is nearing civil war, according to a new national survey.
“The majority of Americans believe that we are two-thirds of the way to being on the edge of civil war. That to me is a very pessimistic place,” said Mo Elleithee, the executive director of Georgetown University’s Institute of Politics and Public Service.
Pessimistic?
I think it’s wonderful. You need to embrace the tragedy and make it a comedy. Turn that frown upside down as it were.
And worse, he said in announcing the results of the institute’s Battleground Poll, the political division is likely to make the upcoming 2020 presidential race the nastiest in modern history.
Highlighting findings that show voters angered with compromise and growing unfavorable ratings of President Trump and most 2020 Democratic presidential candidates, he said the poll “paints a scenario, a picture of a highly negative campaign that will continue to exacerbate the incivility in our public discourse.”
He added, “It will be a sort of race to the bottom, or has the potential to be a race to the bottom.”
What no one talks about is the growth of passive aggressive snark-sniping used by all parts of the political spectrum, but especially the left.
Can snark be quantified? Because we live in a very snarky and nasty society.
Because I’d trade passive aggression for open hostility any day and you can fite me IRL if you disagree.
The Civility Poll is an offshoot of the famous bipartisan Battleground Poll conducted by Democratic pollster Celinda Lake of Lake Research Partners and Ed Goeas of the Tarrance Group.
While it found that 87% are frustrated with the rudeness in politics today, it also revealed that the public really isn’t interested in traditional compromise. For example, a nearly equal 84% said that they are “tired of leaders compromising [their] values and ideals.”
Elleithee explained, “It seems to me what they’re saying is, ‘I believe in common ground, it’s just that common ground is where I’m standing. As soon you move over to where I am, we’ll be on common ground.’”
Your ground, my ground, high ground? All nonsense. What really matters is who is willing to come skipping down those steps first.
And what really startles me is that it’s only 67% of Americans who are ready to get it started.
Who is that remaining 33%?
The underlying tension is so thick that you can cut it with a lightsaber.
I’m shocked that there are still people out there who don’t see or feel where this is all headed.
