Instead of announcing an opening of the country, as some hoped he would do, Donald Trump has introduced a fantastical scheme which does not contain clear meaning.
Insofar as it has any meaning at all, it means “we’re staying closed.”
President Trump announced on Thursday the White House’s plan for eventually rolling back social distancing measures and reopening the country’s economy in several phases — depending on location — amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The plan calls for three phases to reopening the country, based on the severity of the coronavirus outbreak in each individual state or region.
“We can begin the next front in our war, which we are calling ‘Opening Up America Again,'” Trump said during a press briefing at the White House. “To preserve the health of Americans, we must preserve the health of our economy.”
I would have called it “Make America Not as Locked Down as Now Again,” but okay.
The plan, which Trump announced along with the formation of a bipartisan council of lawmakers from both chambers of Congress, outlines “recommendations” for governors to develop their own plans to reopen. It also includes a number of criteria that must be met in terms of numbers of infections and hospitalizations before they can open up.
The “Opening Up America Again” plan was signed off on by the president’s medical advisers, Dr. Deborah Birx, Dr. Anthony Fauci and Dr. Robert Redfield, and will be a “data-driven” approach with governors taking the helm in deciding, down to a county-level, how they will reopen their states, the White House said.
Yeah, as soon as you heard Brix and Fauci signed off on it, you knew that it was just a long-winded way of saying “it’s not happening, bro.”
Whenever I hear anyone who supports this hoax use the term “data-driven,” the muscles in my neck start to twitch.
Fauci said his lunatic doomsday graphs were data-driven.
As recently as two weeks ago, Fauci and Brix were saying that over the next two weeks hundreds of thousands of people would die.
In case you missed it: nothing even close to that has happened. Because they had no data.
“We are not opening all at once, but one careful step at a time,” Trump said, adding that the guidelines were “based on hard verifiable data.”
He added: “Some states will be able to open up sooner than others.”
“Phase One” is for areas of the country who solely satisfy the criteria laid out by the White House and calls for social distancing to remain in place, avoiding gathering of more than 10 people, and avoiding any unnecessary travel.
“Phase Two,” which is for regions that have met the criteria twice and have not seen “a rebound” in infections, still calls for residents to practice social distancing and try to avoid large gathering but opens up the possibility of resuming non-essential travel.
The third phase, which is for areas who have met the criteria three times and have no rebounds of the virus, is the most open and allows vulnerable parts of the population to go back in public, opening back up gyms and bars, resuming full-time staffing at worksites and letting people head back to large venues like restaurants, movie theaters, churches and sports venues – albeit at a reduced capacity.
“This is a gradual process,” Trump said. “Throughout the process, citizens will still be called on to use all the weapons in this war.”
So this, in so many words, means that Trump has now officially endorsed the “indefinite lockdown” program the “experts” are pushing. It is purposefully confusing, so you can’t tell what it means, because Trump knows that his own supporters are on the verge of rioting to get the country back open.
But it means you stay locked down. That is what it means. If you think it means something else, then I would advise you to sit there and watch as you remain locked down. He is more or less trying to pass that responsibility onto the governors, shortly after having said that he has the ability to reopen it.
The media is celebrating this as a win.
What they don’t understand, apparently, is that this is just him trying to avoid blame.
I don’t know why Trump has cracked on this, but there are a number of reasons he would have. Primarily, the obvious fact that if we open up tomorrow or a year from now, our economy is going to have the same status, which is “totally destroyed.”
We thought by 2020 we would be at war with space insects, fighting for the fate of the galaxy, instead we are at war with the flu, fighting for the fate of the nursing home.
But you know, whatever.
The defining aspect of this system has been comical, cruel nonsense. So the system collapsing because people got really worried about the flu and thought it was going to kill them, or kill their grannies, or whatever the hell people are thinking, is fitting.
I’m just as down as all of you about the prospects of eating government soup. I have less to lose than some, but how many actually have much to lose?
Whatever happens, there are going to be fun times ahead. The time before the flu hoax was not painful, but it was just a slow death. The economic collapse means real pain, but it also contains opportunity. We’ve never seen the kind of chaos that we’ve got coming. No one has ever even heard of this kind of chaos.
So, keep your chin up.
Get up in the morning, shave, do bodyweight training.
The fact that you know what kind of hell on earth is coming down means that you’re in a better position than most to handle it, already.
