I don’t really even understand what Mitt’s game is.
Trump isn’t going to be convicted, so how exactly does this guy benefit from shilling this?
Utah Sen. Mitt Romney (R) said Saturday that it is “very likely” he will be in favor of calling witnesses in the Senate impeachment trial against President Trump.
However, the GOP lawmaker said he will hold off on making his final decision until after Democratic impeachment managers and the president’s defense lawyers conclude their opening arguments.
“I think it’s very likely I’ll be in favor of witnesses, but I haven’t made a decision finally yet and I won’t until the testimony is completed,” the Utah Republican said Saturday after the first day of the Trump team’s opening arguments, CNN reported.
Romney declined to say whether he thought the president’s defense team was effective in the opening hours of their arguments, saying, “I just don’t have any comments on the process or the evidence until the trial is over,” CNN reported.
Earlier this month, Romney was the first GOP lawmaker to specifically say that he wanted to hear from former White House national security adviser John Bolton in the course of the impeachment trial.
Romney told reporters at the Capitol that he wants to find out “what he knows” about Trump’s contacts with Ukraine, the central issue in the impeachment effort against the president.
“I would like to be able to hear from John Bolton. What the process is to make that happen, I don’t have an answer for you,” Romney said.
You don’t have any answers, do you, Mitt?
This really is all a gigantic circus, even sillier than the Robert Mueller hoax.
At least with the Mueller hoax, there were stakes. This is a zero stakes event, where everyone knows that Trump won’t be removed, but Democrats are going through the motions because they are afraid of being primaried by an AOC type figure.
It’s really boring and basically the only thing anyone can learn from it is that the media doesn’t care if you are interested in topics or not, they will just force them down your throat.
I check Google News 5 times a day, at least. And the way Google News works is that the top stories on every major news site are collected and ordered using machine intelligence. And this impeachment crap has constantly stayed at the top through this entire event.
And yet, no one cares about it. We know that no one cares about it, because we have the numbers of people who watch it on TV. These numbers are very low.
Right now, everyone is fixated on this Coronavirus because probably everyone is going to die. But the news is forcing through impeachment as the top story.
The only interesting thing so far in the last week is the tape of Trump saying to get rid of that ambassador bitch.
But that is only funny because:
- Trump is funny
- Trump didn’t know there is oil in the Ukraine
- It’s fascinating that people are just allowed to film him ranting with their phones inside of the high level meetings and he doesn’t do anything to try to prevent that
The Washington Post is blaming a Republican conspiracy for people not being interested in this.
They’re also blaming Mitch McConnell’s camera angles.
Republicans adopted a new defense strategy this past week at President Trump’s impeachment trial in the Senate: boredom.
A top White House aide called the trial “unwatchable,” Trump’s campaign manager compared the proceedings to watching paint dry, and several Republican senators entertained distractions while downplaying the three-day prosecution as repetitive and unexciting. “They’re really not bringing forth new information,” Sen. John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) said of the House impeachment managers Friday.

It’s a defense strategy aimed at convincing the public that the third impeachment trial in U.S. history is not worth their time while avoiding substantive questions about Trump’s alleged misconduct, said Heather Cox Richardson, who teaches history at Boston College.
“It’s definitely a strategy to try to get people to not pay attention,” she said. “One of the reasons they’re saying ‘This is stupid and boring’ is because they don’t want people to watch.”
Some lawmakers have openly shown their disdain for the process — reading books, playing with children’s toys, filling out crossword puzzles or wandering from the Senate floor as House Democrats made their case for removing Trump from office.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) has also taken care to ensure that it makes for unexciting television, at least in terms of production values. Often just one oddly tilted camera angle is used by cameras controlled by the Senate, since McConnell has not allowed outside television crews or photographers into the chamber.
These people are seething that they can’t do A Clockwork Orange on the American people and force them to watch this bullshit.
Of course, if they did that, people would just hate the Democrats even more than they do now.
