Texas Lt. Governor Blames “Rotten, Disease Riddled Jigaboo Thugs” for Low Vaxx Rate

I’m just joking.

He didn’t say “jigaboo.”

But he might as well have.

Washington Post:

When Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick was asked about the surge in coronavirus cases during a Thursday night appearance on Fox News, the Republican said “African Americans who have not been vaccinated” are “the biggest group in most states” contributing to the spike.

Laura Ingraham had asked Patrick to respond to criticism from Democrats that covid-19 cases and deaths were on the rise in Texas due to Republican Gov. Greg Abbott’s policies. The governor has resisted public health mandates aimed at mitigating the highly contagious delta variant’s spread and announced on Tuesday that he had tested positive for the virus despite being fully vaccinated.

Patrick acknowledged that “covid is spreading” and that infections are largely among people who have not received the vaccine.

“Democrats like to blame Republicans on that,” Patrick said. “Well, the biggest group in most states are African Americans who have not been vaccinated. The last time I checked, over 90% of them vote for Democrats in their major cities and major counties.”

I stand behind my unvaxxed “brothas,” and I will not tolerate this racist attack on their bodily autonomy.

The “brothas” fought against slavery so they wouldn’t be forced to take vaxxes.

“Dems are the real vaxx refusers” is literally the most poisonous argument that any Republican could ever make. This accepts and assumes that the Democrats have the moral high ground in their force vaccination campaign.

“You’re right, Democrats – I totally agree that everyone should be forced to take the vaxx – now do something about your blacks!” is not owning the libs. It’s surrendering the moral high ground – and selling out all of the white Republicans who do not want to be force vaxxed.

Obviously, it’s true that blacks do have the lowest vaxx rate. There is a way to point that out in response to Democrats without also granting them that coerced vaccination is a good thing. But it’s clear at this point that Republicans are incapable of pointing out hypocrisy without taking up the mantle of whatever moral crusade the Democrats are on.

Of course, zero Democrats responded to this by saying “he’s right! Republicans are the real force-vaccinators! I’m going to join the Republicans and help them do the real force-vaxx agenda!”

To this day, every time that the Republicans have embraced Democrat positions in order to “own” them, no Democrat has responded by switching sides. Just as a practical matter, this technique does not work.

Why do they do it every time?

Are Republicans being paid to lose on purpose, or are they just stupid?

The good news (I guess) is that Matt Gaetz seems to get it. Sean Hannity was doing the “Dems are the real opposition to mass political censorship” bit the other day, and Gaetz called him out.
