The interview has not been confirmed, but it seems there is not another reason he would be in Russia.
The Kremlin has declined to say whether Vladimir Putin would grant an interview to Tucker Carlson, the far-right American journalist, after the former Fox News presenter was spotted in Moscow.
“We can hardly be expected to provide information on the movement of foreign journalists,” Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin spokesperson, said when asked about speculation that Carlson was in Russia to interview the Russian president.
“Many foreign journalists come to Russia every day, many continue to work here, and we welcome this,” Peskov said. “We have nothing to announce in terms of the president’s interviews to foreign media.”
The Mash Telegram channel published a picture on Saturday of Carlson at the Bolshoi theatre in Moscow attending the Spartacus ballet, creating rumours of an interview with Putin.
On Monday, Russian newspaper Izvestia published a video of Carlson responding to whether he would possibly interview Putin.
“We’ll see,” Carlson told the person behind the camera.
When the individual pointed out that news of his visit to Russia “blew up” in the United States, Carlson said: “They’re crazy, really crazy.”
“I love [Moscow]; it’s a beautiful city,” Carlson told the individual, after learning he was from the Russian capital.
Tucker Carlson promoted the “Chinese spy balloon” hoax in order to push Joe Biden’s war with China. I basically said that the only reason he would do that is that he’s a CIA agent.
However, he might just be a moron.
I tend to assume that anyone who says they can’t follow along with my logic is some kind of government psy-op, but it’s possible some people are simply dumb.
If Tucker does an honest interview with Putin, I don’t know how I could believe he is anything other than very well meaning, even if he is fat and stupid.
