If I didn't know better, I'd think the reasons for this were political.
If I didn’t know better, I’d think the reasons for this were political.

The Watchdog site Blocked!, which monitors internet censorship in the UK, reports that the Daily Stormer is blocked as “adult content” by 7 out of 12 of the Internet Service Providers it monitors.

I am not sure what this block amounts to, and if the filter is by default or if it has to be activated.  But the idea that this is an “adult” site is ridiculous.  That classification is generally reserved exclusively for pornographic or otherwise obscene content.

I guess we now know why David Cameron pushed for a law to have the “adult content” filter set as the default on British ISPs – they can just say that nationalism is porno!

I would be interested to hear in the comments section about any Brits or others who have experienced the Daily Stormer being blocked by their ISP.  Note that it is normal for workplaces to block such content as this – the ADL literally sends them lists of content to block in the US – but an ISP blocking such content is something else all together, and an intensely Orwellian scenario.  It is a workaround for the government, who by bullying ISPs into blocking content they don’t like, is not technically infringing on speech rights, as these are private companies.
