World War Rogan: The Incredible Disappearing Rogan (Spotify Book Burning the Show Archive)

Someone made a site tracking Spotify deleting Joe Rogan’s podcast archive at jremissing.com.

They’re going through and deleting more and more of the archive on a consistent basis apparently. At time of writing, the total is 113 episodes deleted.

Some of these are what you’d expect.

Others you might not expect.

As Spotify is the only place legally allowed to host these podcasts, they are in a sense deleting them for all eternity.

I’m not going to talk about book burning. But yeah – that’s what this is.

As we’ve noted before, when Spotify moved the archive from YouTube and various podcast feeds, they declined to upload several episodes, including ones featuring Alex Jones. It was never made clear how this was allowed in the contract, and neither party ever commented on it.

Meanwhile, alternative video site Rumble has made Rogan an offer of $100 million for a four-year contract.

Of course, he can’t just exit the Spotify contract. Contracts are contracts.

We also don’t know if Spotify has a clause in the contract where if Joe Rogan is fired for breach, he won’t be able to podcast anywhere else for a certain amount of time. Though if they fire him not in breach, he’ll need somewhere else to go. They’re not going to let him back on YouTube after this.

It should be noted that since Donald Trump joined Rumble, the Terms of Service have changed, and it is no longer a free speech platform. They explicitly ban “hate speech” and especially criticism of Jews and Israel. It’s not a place I would want to be if I wanted full control of my material, given the record of these ToS rules slipping and sliding down the slippery slope (Joe has also had people on who were critical of the Zionist occupation of Palestine, which would violate Rumble’s current rules about not criticizing Jews).

As Trump made the rules against criticizing Jews, and Trump is a big time vaxer, it’s also conceivable that his team could start complaining about Joe’s criticism of the vax.

If Joe breaks with Spotify, the logical thing would be to make his own platform, where he can control his own content completely, rather than being subjected to arbitrary rules. This can be achieved by using Russian and Chinese hosting services, as Russia and China do not have these arbitrary rules about political speech (although he might not be allowed to criticize the Chinese government if he was using Chinese services, it’s not really an issue he talks about – and even if he did, they probably wouldn’t care).
