I don’t know if this is true or not, but it seems true.
And POLITICO is basically not any different than NYT/WaPo in that they only print things the White House/CIA tells them to print.
So even if it is untrue, there are people in the government wanting you to believe it is true.
RT:
American officials have told Politico that they may have “missed a window” to push for peace talks between Russia and Ukraine. Speaking anonymously, they conceded that Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley “had a point” when he offered a grim pronouncement on Kiev’s chances for victory last year.
Milley is not a good person, but he’s old and gay and he doesn’t want to go down for this shit.
I think a lot of these public statements he made about how the war was impossible to win were attempts by him to get fired.
More than two months into Ukraine’s counteroffensive against Russian forces, Kiev has failed to capture more than a handful of hamlets and villages in Zaporozhye region, and has lost at least 43,000 men and nearly 5,000 pieces of equipment in the process, according to the latest figures from the Russian Defense Ministry. Although the Ukrainian government still insists it can retake all of its claimed territory by force, Washington is increasingly unsure.
I still don’t understand how anyone in Washington actually thought this was possible.
I guess they watch CNN and read the front page of the NYT, and just think it’s all real – that the Ukrainians will win a war with a country with four (4) times their population and nearly twenty (20) times their GDP because “Ukrainians have heart.”
This is known as the “comics books are real life” theory of war.
Either that, or they knew this was going to happen and did it on purpose for some reason.
I have no idea, actually, because there is no way you could know that other than by guessing.
“We may have missed a window to push for earlier talks,” a US official told Politico on Friday, adding that “Milley had a point.”
Speaking in New York in November, Milley said that a military victory would likely be unachievable for Ukraine, and that Kiev could use the wintertime pause in fighting to enter negotiations with Moscow and avoid any further losses.
Every military man knew this was true. But he obviously wasn’t supposed to say it.
Again, he was obvious covering his own ass, but I think he was also probably trying to get fired.
His comments reportedly angered Kiev and caused panic in the White House, which rushed to reassure the Ukrainian leadership that it would continue to support President Vladimir Zelensky’s maximalist aims – which include retaking Crimea, an historic Russian territory that voted to rejoin the Russian Federation in 2014.
Media reports suggest that Washington has been divided on the idea of peace talks since at least last year, with President Joe Biden and Secretary of State Antony Blinken vehemently rejecting negotiations, against the wishes of some members of the military and intelligence agencies. This split persisted as Ukraine geared up for its counteroffensive, with reports indicating that despite Biden’s and Blinken’s optimism, the Pentagon knew Kiev wasn’t ready for the operation, and the CIA expected it to end in failure.
This all seems basically true, based both on information we have and just what should be generally obvious: the military and the intelligence agencies are suing for peace, while the State Department (which is totally Jewish, and run by unhinged morons) were demanding endless war.
This “counteroffensive” was obviously not planned by military men, but rather bureaucrats who were apparently able to dig up supposed military experts to serve as yes men and tell them what they want to hear – that the Russians are a bunch of bumbling buffoons who were amazed when they entered the Ukraine and set eyes on modern appliances for the first time in their lives.
Again – maybe the Jews are not as stupid as they look, and wanted this debacle for some reason. I think the only possible reason they would do that is that they want to set up an excuse to send in US troops and trigger World War III, because they’ve calculated that war with both Russia and China is the only way Jews have a chance at maintaining global dominance.
Just to repeat: I don’t know which it is. I have no insider information, I am not a wizard with a crystal ball; all I can do is look at the public information and try to figure out what it means.
Pessimism is now spreading in the White House, another anonymous official told Politico, saying that the Biden administration is increasingly asking itself “If we acknowledge we’re not going to do this forever, then what are we going to do?”
The official White House line, obviously, was “as long as it takes.”
That’s hard to walk back on.
Of course, they can just order Zelensky to say he wants to surrender before Kharkov and Odessa fall. Zelensky has to do what he’s told, ultimately. Burns from the CIA went there to try to convince him to do this months ago, but he’s taking orders from Blinken and Victoria Nuland, and refused.
(Of course, as I’ve said six million times, Zelensky himself tried to cede territory and negotiate neutrality in May of 2022, and Boris Johnson flew in on behalf of the US State Department and informed him he was not allowed to do that. So Zelensky personally does not really care.)
Milley has continued to suggest a diplomatic solution to the conflict. “If the end state is ‘Ukraine is a free, independent, sovereign country with its territory intact’… that’s gonna take a long, long time, but you can also achieve those objectives — maybe, possibly — through some sort of diplomatic means,” he told the Washington Post this week.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said that any negotiations will be held “not with Zelensky, who is a puppet in the hands of the West, but directly with his masters.”
So…
Who the hell knows?
They have to escalate (send in the troops) or negotiate.
What some people apparently want is to allow Russia to keep what they have, but then allow the remainder of the Ukraine to join NATO, and I don’t think Russia is going to agree to that. They are holding a lot of cards, because the Ukraine really doesn’t have enough soldiers to do anything – at least not enough professional soldiers (they’ve got poor dumb assholes they pulled off the street).
Frankly, Russia has committed so much already, that it might not make sense to agree to any peace negotiations at all before they take Kharkov and Odessa – which is inevitable, short of a US intervention.
Of course, Russia doesn’t want a US intervention, and if agreeing not to take Kharkov and Odessa would prevent that, maybe that is the best for them. But I don’t think they are going to agree to NATO. Maybe if the Ukraine just surrendered Kharkov and Odessa, they would agree to NATO.
Everything is up in the air here. I’m not going to bullshit you by claiming I know what happens next. No one knows what happens next. Putin doesn’t, Blinken doesn’t, Milley doesn’t, and Zelensky definitely doesn’t.
You might end up with a black swan type event – a military coup in the Ukraine, for instance.
Or, the US might decide to drag this out until the 2024 election is finished being hoaxed, then send in US troops.
